Sometimes my pupils ask me what software I use, How do you get into the music business? What is music
copy right? Where can you get sheet
music for modern music?.... Hopefully some of the following sites can help to answer these and lots more.  Some sites are good for non  musicians who love listening to music too. Have fun.

Connecting keyboards to computers:  You will need a MIDI connection of some type. There are several different connection types available.  Example products. Some sound cards come with MIDI Interfaces, some controller keyboards (examples) have USB midi interfaces built into them, or if you have a joystick port you could buy a midi adapter and midi leads.  If not, you will need to buy a separate USB MIDI interface .  For a USB midi interface, printing music, recording & piano lesson option try Voyetra’s  “Teach me piano” . Many USB controller keyboards include bundled music software recording  and / or soft synthesizers. eg  Xboard, K series,  You also might need to read your keyboard’s manual.

COLLABORATING WITH MUSICIANS ONLINE

I’VE NOT CHECKED OUT ALL THESE SITES YET. Let me know how you get on with them

http://soundcloud.com   My wave and some mp3 files are too big for my email service to send, so this site is so important for me when collaborating with other musicians.  The website describes itself as "The platform takes the daily hassle out of receiving, sending & distributing music for artists, record labels & other music professionals."

www.indabamusic.com  Great for finding new music as well as collaborating. I’m here as Morphsonic. (Cherie) “The Indaba Session Console enables you to make studio-quality music in unprecedented ways:

* Record high-quality, uncompressed audio directly to Indaba

* Utilize real-time non-destructive effects

* Browse a clips library full of Creative Commons-licensed loops

* Drag the console from the browser onto your desktop and work offline, anytime, anywhere!”

www.esession.com  I’m here as Morphsonic.  If you have a Mac you can  record online using Esession’s software. It  appears that this is  a site with lots of pro musicians and producers as members.

http://www.ejamming.com/learnmore/    Then by creating or joining  SESSIONS, you connect with up to three other musicians anywhere in the world for real time collaboration, creation, recording  and just playing for fun.

RECORD & REASON by Propellerhead are 2 of my favourite
music programs.  Record is great for time stretching remixes.
Reason includes some interesting synths. & CV routing.
SIBELIUS FIRST and SIBELIUS STUDENT are good alternatives to Finale’s scoring software.
MUSIC GAMES   Please be careful if downloading music games. I’ve not had the chance to check the security of all
the games & sites on this list.
